Project Aura Web Installer

Install or update firmware directly from Chrome or Edge using Web Serial.

Firmware v1.1.3 Chrome / Edge (Desktop)
Step 1

Install Drivers

If you are not sure whether CH341SER drivers are installed, install them first to ensure a stable USB serial connection.

W

Windows Driver

CH341SER package for Windows. Use this if the board does not appear correctly as a USB serial device.

Step 2

Before You Start

  • Mac users: Safari is not supported. Use Chrome or Edge.
  • Close other apps: Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Arduino IDE, or any serial monitor can block the USB port.
  • No hubs: Connect Aura directly to the computer USB port.
  • Use a data cable: Some USB cables are charge-only and will never expose the serial port.
  • Connect the device now: Plug Aura in before starting the installer.
If the installer hangs while checking the port, unplug USB once, reconnect it, and try again before changing anything else.
Step 3
Install Firmware
  1. Use Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop.
  2. Connect the device with a data USB cable to the board's USB-UART port.
  3. Click Full Install or Update, then select the USB Serial / CH340 port.
  4. In the installer dialog, click Install Project Aura.
Can't find the right port?
Try these in order:
1
Unplug the USB cable.
2
Click Connect again and check the list.
3
Plug the cable back in and select the new port.
4
If it still does not appear: hold BOOT, tap RESET, release BOOT.
Important: do not close this tab and do not disconnect USB during flashing.
Update keeps settings. Full Install resets settings.

Supported browsers: Chrome and Edge. Safari and Firefox do not support Web Serial.
Recovery

Recovery Demo Flash (Display Check)

Use this only when the display stays black after a normal firmware install. It helps verify whether the panel and low-level display pipeline are alive.

Use only if needed

How to run

  1. Connect the board with a known-good data USB cable.
  2. Click LVGL Porting Demo below and complete the install.
  3. Wait up to 2 minutes after flashing for the demo to start.
  4. After testing, reinstall normal Project Aura firmware.
Only use this for troubleshooting a black screen after a normal flash. It is not the main firmware.
Select the USB Serial / CH340 port in the installer dialog.

How to read the result

If the demo starts and you see graphics, the display path is alive and the issue is likely firmware configuration or state, not a dead panel.

If nothing appears even after waiting, check power, USB cable quality, and whether the board enters the correct boot/flash mode before concluding there is a hardware issue.

After a successful demo check, go back and run the normal Full Install again.
