Project Aura Firmware Installer

Step 1: Install Drivers

If you are not sure if the drivers (CH341SER) are installed, please install them to ensure a stable connection.

Step 2: Preparation

  • Mac Users: Safari browser is not supported. Please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to install the firmware.
  • Close other apps: Ensure that 3D Slicers (Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio) and Arduino IDE are closed. They may block the USB connection.
  • No Hubs: Connect the ESP32 directly to your computer's USB port. Do not use hubs or extension cords.
  • Data Cable: Use a high-quality USB data cable. (Some cables are for charging only).
  • Connect your Aura device via USB now.

Supported browsers: Chrome and Edge. Safari and Firefox do not support Web Serial.

Step 4: Success & Calibration

  • Automatic Start: After the installation is complete, your device screen will automatically turn on. Enjoy your Project Aura.
  • Sensor Warm-up: Please allow 5 to 10 minutes for the sensors to warm up and stabilize. During this time, air quality readings might fluctuate. This is normal behavior.
  • Next Steps: Please refer to the Instruction Guide for detailed information on how the sensors work and how to calibrate them properly.
  • Need Help? If the screen doesn't turn on or you encounter any issues, please message me on MakerWorld. I'll be happy to help you.

Recovery Demo

Recovery Demo Flash (Display Check)

Use this only when the screen stays black after normal firmware install.

Hardware Diagnostic Chrome / Edge (Desktop)
How To Run
  1. Connect board with a known-good data USB cable.
  2. Click LVGL Porting Demo below and complete the install.
  3. Wait up to 2 minutes after flashing for the demo to start.
  4. After testing, reinstall normal Project Aura firmware.
Warning: Demo firmware will replace current firmware. This is expected.

Select USB Serial / CH340 port in installer dialog.

How To Read Result

This check separates firmware issues from display hardware issues.

If LVGL demo UI appears, panel and firmware boot path are working.
If screen is still black on this demo, likely hardware issue (panel/cable/connector).
If auto-connect fails: hold BOOT, tap RESET, then retry.
